Dana Hall
We teach the 6th graders at Dana Hall School at least once a semester. This past fall we taught them about gravity. In the spring they come to Olin and we show them projects current students are developing and run an activity that teaches user centered design.
Escape the Room
This was our fall fundraiser. We had elementary aged students go through a series of rooms (with a mentor to give clues and their parents to observe). This allowed the students to participate in an Escape the Room that tested their wits but was still at the skill level for a group of young students.
Marshmallow Challenge
For various events on Olin's campus we will run various adaptations of a "Marshmallow Challenge". This allows for participants to work in a group to design and build a structure with limits on materials and time.
Schofeild
Once a month we go to schofeild elementary school and run activities with the children. Many of the activities are grounded in problem solving and creativity. Cryptography, mathmatical hopscotch, and "what's in the box" are some examples.
